Job Description for Medical Representative

Position: Medical Representative
Location: Lucknow
Department: Sales/Marketing
Reporting to: Area Manager

Role Overview

The Medical Representative is responsible for promoting and selling the company's pharmaceutical and healthcare products to doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. This role involves building strong relationships within the medical community, providing product knowledge, and achieving sales targets in the assigned territory. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and a passion for driving growth in the healthcare sector.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Product Promotion and Sales

    • Actively promote the company’s products to healthcare professionals, including doctors, pharmacists, and clinics.
    • Provide detailed product information, explain benefits, and address questions to influence prescription decisions and product recommendations.
  2. Relationship Building

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare professionals to increase product visibility and brand loyalty.
    • Regularly visit healthcare providers to strengthen client connections and understand market needs.
  3. Achieve Sales Targets

    • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for assigned products and territory.
    • Implement sales strategies to maximize growth and market share within the assigned territory.
  4. Territory Management

    • Manage and expand customer base within the assigned territory through regular visits, new client acquisition, and maintaining existing relationships.
    • Develop and execute a territory plan to optimize reach and effectiveness.
  5. Market Research and Feedback

    • Gather and report feedback from the field on product performance, competitor activities, and changing market trends.
    • Keep the management and product development teams informed of any market insights or product improvement suggestions.
  6. Product Knowledge and Training

    • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, industry developments, and medical advancements to provide accurate and current information to clients.
    • Participate in training sessions and workshops to continually improve selling techniques and product knowledge.
  7. Reporting and Documentation

    • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and follow-up actions in the CRM.
    • Prepare and submit regular sales reports, territory activity reports, and any other requested documentation.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Representative or in a similar role in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical product knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Persuasive selling and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.

Preferred Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in medical sales or pharmaceutical sales.
  • Existing network within the healthcare or pharmaceutical community is a plus.
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry’s regulatory environment.
